Releasing on December 1, 2023, through Kvlt und Kaos Productions, "Impermanence" is the first offering from Austrian melodic death metal band Xenocracy. This album is a blend of melodic death metal with black metal and metalcore influences, often described as melodic deathcore. It features 12 diverse tracks that are sure to captivate listeners and invite repeated enjoyment.

"There is no beginning without an ending." The album explores a spectrum of thoughts and philosophies on human existence, suffering, and the inevitable conclusion of all things. Each of the twelve tracks provides a unique perspective on the album's overarching theme.

Highlights include "Vanitas," drawing inspiration from the profound reflections of German Baroque poet Andreas Gryphius, exploring morality and the human condition. "Fireflies" weaves a narrative inspired by the Japanese war film “Grave of the Fireflies,” adding depth to the exploration of life's transient nature. "Solitude" addresses the pressing issue of climate change and its devastating global impact.

A distinctive feature of "Impermanence" is its exploration of the connection between endings and beginnings, notably through its first and last tracks, which are different versions of the same composition. The opening track, "Overture", akin to a classical overture, foreshadows the album's themes, melodies, and guitar riffs. Interestingly, the first sound heard in "Overture" is from the final track, "Reprise," which revisits the beginning in a transformed manner. This circular structure encapsulates the concept of cyclical impermanence: the album begins with the end and concludes with the beginning.
